Your questions, our answers

Everything you need to know before taking payments with ChariPay.

Getting started

What is ChariPay?

ChariPay is a Moroccan payment platform: merchants get paid by card or in cash at an agency — through payment links, an online checkout or subscriptions — and every successful payment is instantly available in their payment account, then paid out to their bank whenever they decide.

Do I need a website to use ChariPay?

No. Payment links are shared by email, WhatsApp, QR code or printed poster. And if you want to sell online without building a site, the hosted storefront publishes your products for you.

How do I test with no commitment?

Create a sandbox account yourself: online sign-up, email activation, portal login, then mint your own API key. The environment is complete — free of charge, with no time limit.

How do I go live?

Your business is verified (KYB: identity documents and trade register), then your account is activated. You are guided at every step from the portal.

Getting paid

Which payment methods are available?

Card payment, with 3-D Secure, and cash payment via a reference paid at a partner agency.

Can my customers pay without a bank card?

Yes — and no one else offers it: ChariPay is the only payment gateway in Morocco that also collects cash. Your customer generates a reference, pays it in cash at an agency of the Chari network, and you are notified the instant the deposit is made.

Can I collect subscriptions?

Yes. The customer gives explicit consent at the first payment, is notified before every charge, and temporary failures are retried automatically.

Your money

Is my ChariPay balance a bank account?

It is a payment account, held by Chari Money, a payment institution licensed by Bank Al-Maghrib. It carries a RIB in your company's name, with a downloadable PDF certificate: you can receive transfers into it, send transfers to any Moroccan bank, pay bills — and pay out to your bank account whenever you decide.

When is my money available?

The instant a payment succeeds: the amount is credited to your ChariPay payment account and immediately usable. The payout to your bank account is a distinct operation — by transfer on demand, or automatic every night once a settlement account is configured.

In which currency are payments?

Everything is in Moroccan dirhams (MAD): collections, balances and payouts, with no conversion.

How do I refund a customer?

From the portal or through the API, in full or partially. Refunds are free.

Security

Is my customers' card data stored?

Card numbers are never written to the database. Payment happens on a secure hosted checkout, with 3-D Secure.

How is my account protected?

Two-factor authentication, per-user roles and permissions (owner, manager, cashier, accountant), re-authentication before sensitive actions and dual approval on critical operations.
